A GREEN SPACE IN THE BALTIC TRIANGLE… LET’S USE IT!
Just a few months after the first Balticfest last year, the Baltic Green Urban Park was forced to shut down by the Liverpool City Council. Tables, seating and plants demolished by bulldozers. The newest urban park in Liverpool was gone, almost overnight, and the Baltic Green returned to the state it’s been for so long – an underused green space, unloved and forgotten – a wasteland in the heart of the Baltic Triangle. Almost one year on, nothing has changed. It’s time to once again shout out loud: SAVE THE GREEN!

WHY “SAVE THE GREEN”?
The Baltic Green is a public space (so far) and it’s our duty – and privilege – to use it as much as we can. The truth is – we don’t really need millionaire projects or cutting edge developments to be able to enjoy any green space – we just need some sunshine, the green grass, good vibes and each other. Are we – who live, work and hang out around the Liverpool Baltic Triangle – really so lazy, so apathetic that we can’t be bothered to do anything about the Baltic Green?
That’s why on Saturday August 20th, as part of our Balticfest event, we want YOU to take over the green and make the most of it: Bring your friends, bring food, bring deck chairs, whatever really – have a picnic, chill out, use the green! We’ll provide the entertainment, with the Syd Barrett Stage, an open mic open to any musician, poet or performer, from 12pm to 4pm. Before that, though, we need to do a community cleanup of the space, and we invite people to come to the green from 9am-12pm to help making it look a bit nicer. We hope to see you there!
WHERE: Baltic Green, Bridgewater St, Liverpool L1 0AR
WHEN: cleanup from 9am-12pm, picnic & open mic from 12pm-4pm
WHAT’S ON IN THE GREEN:

PICNIC & OPEN MIC
We want to encourage people to take over and use the Baltic Green on Saturday 20th August – have a picnic, chill out, hang out with friends… hopefully, it’ll be a wonderful sunny day! There are many cafes around the Baltic Triangle which serve great food you can takeaway, too.
To provide live entertainment, we’ll have a Balticfest “stage” there – which will be called the Syd Barrett Open Mic Stage. Everyone is welcome to show up and play some tunes, read poetry and be creative.

baltic green clean-up
Before the fun, the serious, even boring, part – let’s clean up the green! Well, maybe it can be fun. But it is an important thing to do, in true community spirit, to help keeping the Baltic HGreen nice and safe for all – after all, it’s yours!
Bring own gloves. Bin bags will be provided.
