About C&T

Coffee and Turntables is a series of cafe-based daytime parties brought to you by Ivan (Thee Lucifer Sams) and Peter (Old Rope) along with regular guest DJs. We do short seasonal residencies in cafes and eateries around Liverpool, usually on Saturday afternoons, with some special bonus evening events.

We only play vinyl records and have a roster of DJs with different tastes but all with one goal: to liven up your lunchtime! The events are family friendly and we try to use accessible venues wherever possible. C&T is a great way to have a bite to eat, sample the delights of the cafes of the city and make some friends along the way.

The beginning…

Coffee and Turntables started life as a weekly DJ party on Jamaica Street, in Liverpool’s trendy Baltic Triangle, during the Summer of 2018.  We brought sunny vibes every Saturday afternoon for 11 weeks outside the then-new 92 Degrees café.

You know the famous Liver Bird wings graffiti? It was near there. You know the mural of Jurgen Klopp? It was opposite that. We made that spot so cool they decided it was the only place for their street art. Maybe. The sun was pretty hot that year and it may have gone to our heads.

C&T on the move

Since that first long hot summer we have played residencies in cafés around the city, including Lovelocks (Old Haymarket), The Bagelry (China Town), Bean There (Penny Lane), 92 Degrees, Spire, Chapters of Us, Coffee and Fandisha, Vault (Baltic Triangle) and Freida Mo’s (Lark Lane). Despite the pandemic we managed to do a socially-distanced outdoor Baltic Takeover month whilst also making our annual return to Jamaica Street to bring good times and good vibes to area. We also do one-off evening events in bars, an occasional Tots & Turntables kids’ workshop and we also run the cult favourite B-Sides party at Hobo Kiosk. We have a crowd of regulars who love our events and often come along to say hi. Keep an eye out for our limited edition badges – if you see someone wearing one you know they have taste!
